Memorial Day

Observed on the last Monday in May, this day solemnly honors U.S. military personnel who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces.

It is a day of remembrance and gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice.

Memorial Day at WCNC honors the men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty, making the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This solemn event is hosted and organized by the Guardians of the National Cemetery to ensure their courage and service are properly remembered.

 

Ceremonies include the presentation of colors by the Honor Guard, moments of reflection at the gravesites of our nation’s heroes, and recognition of Gold Star families with an official congressional distinction. Guardians and volunteers work together to ensure the event is conducted with dignity and respect.

 

Memorial Day at WCNC is a time for the community to come together, express gratitude, and preserve the legacy of those who gave their lives for our freedom.
