Veterans Day at Washington Crossing National Cemetery

Each year, the Guardians of the National Cemetery gather at Washington Crossing National Cemetery (WCNC) to honor all men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Situated just a few miles from where General Washington and his troops historically crossed the Delaware River to change the course of the Revolutionary War, WCNC rests on ground steeped in the history of American liberty, a fitting place to pay tribute to service and sacrifice across every generation.

The ceremony opens with a live rendition of the national anthem, followed by the presentation of colors by the Guardians Color Guard. Together, they set a solemn and dignified tone for the tribute that follows.

Local veterans who have gone above and beyond in service to their country will be recognized with Congressional awards, honoring their extraordinary contributions and sacrifice.

The ceremony continues with a rifle volley by our Guardians, a time-honored military tradition rendered with precision and respect. The Guardians will then perform the folding and presentation of the flag, a solemn tribute to all who have worn the uniform in defense of the freedoms this hallowed ground represents.

Veterans Day at WCNC provides the community with an opportunity to come together, on land forever tied to the birth of American liberty, to express appreciation and reaffirm our commitment to honoring all who have served.
