Avenue of Flags
The Avenue of Flags at Washington Crossing National Cemetery is a striking and patriotic tribute to our nation’s veterans. It consists of over 150 U.S. flags, each measuring approximately 4 ½ feet by 9 feet, flown along the cemetery’s roadways at special observances such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Each flag flies atop a 20‑foot removable pole, spaced roughly 30 feet apart to create a solemn and dignified procession of colors throughout the cemetery.
Most of the flags have been donated by the families of veterans who received the burial flag at their loved one’s funeral, adding a deeply personal and meaningful connection to the display.
Volunteers from the Guardians of the National Cemetery install and remove the flags for these observances, making the Avenue of Flags a powerful visual expression of respect, gratitude, and remembrance for those who served.
