It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Edgar A. Mitchell, a valued member of the Wednesday Guardians Honor Guard Team at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Ed passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his family, at the age of 85.

Ed honorably served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Airman First Class, and proudly served as a military policeman with the 26th Air Defense Missile Squadron, both stateside and overseas in France. His service reflected the highest values of integrity, discipline, and devotion to the country.

Following his military service, Ed continued his dedication to our nation’s veterans by serving faithfully as a Guardian at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, ensuring that every veteran and their family received the honors, respect, and dignity they deserve. His presence, professionalism, and reverence for ceremony made a lasting impact on the Guardians and all who had the privilege to serve alongside him.
