It is with sadness we announce the passing of Walter J. Elsperger, 88, of Yardley, Pa., who died on Dec. 29, 2025, at St Mary’s Hospital, Langhorne, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Olga; his daughter, Lisa (Elsperger) Henderson, grandson, Nicklaus Cash and his sister Irma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Sophie; his brother, Luke; and sister, Frieda.
Walter was born in Altoona and graduated from Altoona High School in 1957. Shortly after his marriage to Olga in 1959, he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He spent most of his career working for SKF USA Inc. in Altoona, retiring in 1997.
Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman and lifetime member of Brush Mountain Sportsmen’s Association, the Unter Uns and Bavarian Aid Society. He was proud of his German heritage and served as Vorplattler of the Altoona Almrausch Shuhplattlers for many years. He also served for six years in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery Honor Guard and was a member of St. Mary’s, Altoona and latterly, St. Andrew in Newtown, Pa.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the ICU at St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and support.
