Gerald died at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
Born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Joseph and Verna McGovern, he had been a Falls resident for the past 35 years.
Mr. McGovern was an accountant with Merrill Lynch for 25 years in both New York city and Plainsboro, N.J. He graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam and an Honor Guard volunteer at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery. He was enthusiastic about home landscaping, fishing, both ocean and fresh water, and Philadelphia Eagles Football. He loved spending time with his family and baby sitting his grandchildren. His witty sense of humor and ability to make us laugh even during the most difficult of times will be missed
